Our Story

At Kuppameniya, we believe life is better with pets! As devoted pet parents of four wonderful fur babies—Othello, Gingy, Scraggles, and Mousey Kitty—we know firsthand the joy they bring to our lives. We've always wanted to give the very best to our pets, and that includes ensuring their toys and products are safe, eco-friendly, and high-quality.

But as we searched for products to enhance their lives, we noticed a troubling trend: too many pet items were made from plastic and synthetic materials. We knew there had to be a better way.

Kuppameniya is inspired by the natural world and the local materials of Sri Lanka. The name "Kuppameniya" comes from a wild root found in Sri Lanka, similar to catnip. Just like catnip, it’s irresistible and addictive to our furry friends, making it the perfect name for our brand. We wanted to create products that are as captivating and enjoyable as this local treasure, while also being eco-friendly and sustainable.

Our mission is to craft handmade pet products using locally sourced, upcycled, organic, biodegradable, and reusable materials. Every product is made with love and care, ensuring that it’s safe for your pets and kind to the environment. We aim to bring the best of Sri Lanka to your pets through beautiful, unique, pet-approved products.

Our furry team, including Othello, Gingy, Scraggles, and Mousey Kitty, rigorously tests and approves each of our products to ensure they meet our high standards. We also remember our beloved dogs, Koko, Beauty, and Hummus, who passed away at the ages of 16, 15, and 10. These three dogs were part of our testing team, and their love and devotion continue to inspire us.

We also care for the outdoor cats in our community—Grey Joy, Kitty, and Crows—and any other animals that cross our path. We actively support street dogs and cats through donations to animal welfare charities. Animal wellbeing is a cause close to our hearts, and we are passionate about making a difference.

At Kuppameniya, we are a small but dedicated team working together to create innovative, eco-friendly products that bring happiness to your pets and help protect the environment. We believe in the power of organic, locally-sourced materials, and we strive to make every item a meaningful part of your pet's life.
